Ulman Foundation and Keep Punching Announce Strategic Partnership to Fund New Patient Navigator for Brain Cancers
Baltimore, MD – Ulman Foundation and Keep Punching are proud to announce a transformative partnership to support individuals and families impacted by brain cancers. Thanks to the generous funding from the Charles T. Bauer Charitable Foundation, this collaboration will fund a full-time Patient Navigator for Brain Cancers, who will collaborate with Johns Hopkins Hospital and other patients impacted by brain cancers.
This announcement comes at a particularly meaningful time, as May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month—a moment to shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by those living with brain cancer and to amplify efforts that bring support, resources, and hope to affected individuals and families.
This newly funded position will provide essential, personalized support to patients diagnosed with brain cancers, helping them navigate the complex medical landscape, access resources, coordinate care, and manage the emotional, logistical, and financial challenges that often accompany a diagnosis. The Patient Navigator for Brain Cancers will offer one-on-one guidance, advocacy, and connection to both Ulman’s and Keep Punching’s comprehensive support networks—ensuring that no patient faces their diagnosis alone.
“We are incredibly honored to partner with the Keep Punching and have support from the Charles T. Bauer Charitable Foundation to launch this vital role,” said Kimberly Weiner, Chief Impact Officer at the Ulman Foundation. “This Patient Navigator will expand our ability to meet the urgent needs of brain cancer patients and their families—offering hope, connection, and real, tangible support during one of the most difficult times in their lives.”
Beth Fisher, Co-Founder of Keep Punching, added, “This initiative is a major step forward for the brain cancer community. It reflects our shared commitment to not just fighting this disease, but lifting up every person and family impacted by it. We believe this navigator will be a lifeline for many and a powerful addition to the team of caregivers and advocates that patients need.”
A Patient Navigator is a trained professional who works one-on-one with patients to remove barriers to care, streamline communication with medical teams, and connect individuals with social, emotional, and practical support. They provide continuity and compassion at every step of a patient’s cancer journey, from diagnosis to survivorship or end-of-life care. Ulman Foundation has hired Heather Geise, BSN, RN to step into this role and support patients as they navigate a brain cancer diagnosis.
This joint endeavor marks a meaningful expansion of services for patients with brain cancer in the greater Baltimore region and a model for how mission-driven partnerships can drive change and improve lives.
